Brainwashing

Brainwashing, a common and commonly understood condition, I believe grew out of the Korean War and the charge that Chinese Communists had captured and “brainwashed” American soldiers. This meme then gained legs through the agency of cinema with the 1962 movie: The Manchurian Candidate. I am sure brainwashing was not new to the American government and military but 1962 is the year that “brainwashing” broke into the consciousness of the American public, the public which is referred to as “The People” in this nation’s founding documents.
