Scholz admits many Germans don’t support aid for Ukraine and sanctions on Russia

The German Chancellor admitted that support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia are not popular among “many citizens” in Germany. This is the natural repercussion of the anti-Russia sanctions imposed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, which has resulted in the German economy declining and average citizens struggling. The popularity of the ruling coalition in Germany is falling due to support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, Scholz admitted in an interview with German broadcaster ARD. “It is true that there are many citizens who do not agree with the fact that we support Ukraine, who also do not agree with the fact that […] #Europe #Government #UkraineWar #WarZone Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/06/scholz-admits-many-germans-dont-support-aid-for-ukraine-and-sanctions-on-russia/?feed_id=12887

Are Europeans throwing each other under the bus to avoid Russian retaliation?

It’s been just two months into 2024 and it already seems that the world is falling apart. Last week began with French President Emmanuel Macron effectively calling for the deployment of NATO ground troops to Ukraine. His Prime Minister Gabriel Attal supported the idea, although both conceded there’s no consensus on the matter. France’s involvement might be multifaceted, including both the conflict in West Africa and French personnel already in Ukraine. Namely, in mid-January, Moscow obliterated at least 60 French mercenaries in Kharkov, which could partially explain Macron’s rather emotional reaction. by Ahmed Adel, Cairo-based geopolitics and political economy researcher Germany is preparing for a war between NATO and Russia, which, according to the scenario of the German Defence Ministry, could begin in the European summer of 2025 after the defeat of the Ukrainian Army, reported Bild with reference to a secret document of the Bundeswehr. This is evidently a desperate attempt by the German chancellor to distract citizens from their economic woes. According to the newspaper, citing a classified German military document, the escalation could begin as early as next month with the start of an active Russian offensive against […] #Featured #UkraineWar #WarZone #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/01/scholz-pushes-fake-russian-threats-to-distract-germans-from-economic-problems/?feed_id=8212

More Than Half of Germans Want New Government and Early Elections

by Ahmed Adel, Cairo-based geopolitics and political economy researcher More than half of German voters are so dissatisfied with Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition government that they want early elections. The decline of Scholz’s coalition government also comes as German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that it would take Europe between five and eight years to recover its defensive capacity after disarming itself by sending weapons to Ukraine. According to a survey by the German newspaper Bild and published by Bloomberg on December 16, 59% of Germans would prefer elections for a new parliament in 2024, while 27% oppose such a measure. Regular elections are […] #Elections #Featured #Government #WarZone #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/12/more-than-half-of-germans-want-new-government-and-early-elections/?feed_id=7536
