Turkey’s alliance with Azerbaijan and Pakistan expands influence in Caucasus-Central Asia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Astana on July 3. In this meeting, Erdogan’s intentions of shaping the Caucasus and Central Asia in a Turkish-led order became even more apparent. This was the first meeting between leaders of the three countries in a trilateral format and had “historic significance,” according to Azertaj, with promises that such meetings would be held regularly. Previous trilateral meetings were only held at the level of foreign ministers, parliamentary speakers, and defence […] #Asia #Government #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/07/turkeys-alliance-with-azerbaijan-and-pakistan-expands-influence-in-caucasus-central-asia/?feed_id=13005

Aliyev says Azerbaijan “cannot sit idly by” while Armenia is armed by France, India and Greece

In a new threat of war, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that his country “cannot sit idly by” as France, India, and Greece supply weapons to Armenia. However, his justification for issuing a new threat of war is hypocritical since Azerbaijan has invested much more in its military compared to Armenia after turning to Turkey, Pakistan and Israel for weapons. The South Caucasus is clearly becoming a flashpoint for these competing blocs. “We cannot sit idly by while France, India, and Greece arm Armenia against us. They are doing this openly and demonstratively, obviously trying to prove something to us […] #Military #WarZone Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/04/aliyev-says-azerbaijan-cannot-sit/?feed_id=11515

Azerbaijan snubs traditional weapon supplier Russia for Turkey

Six months after reclaiming the once Armenian-majority region of Nagorno-Karabakh in a lightening military campaign, Azerbaijan plans to upgrade its fighter aircraft fleet over the next decade. All reports indicate that Pakistan and Turkey will be the providers and not Russia, the traditional weapons supplier of Azerbaijan. This is an indication that despite the currently friendly Moscow-Baku ties, Azerbaijan is tilting further towards the Turkey and Pakistan nexus. Reports in Azerbaijani and Pakistani media in late February claimed that their respective countries agreed to sell an undisclosed number of Pakistani JF-17C Thunder fighter jets for $1.6 billion. At the same […] #Government #WarZone #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/03/azerbaijan-snubs-traditional-weapon-supplier-russia-for-turkey/?feed_id=9987

Is Armenia really arming the Kiev regime?

Approximately two months after the unfortunate fall of Artsakh (better known as Nagorno-Karabakh), a historically Armenian land occupied by Azerbaijan, resulting in the ethnic cleansing of over 100,000 indigenous Armenians, the current government continues with its disastrous foreign policy. Run by the infamous Sorosite Nikol Pashinyan, the end of Armenia’s troubles is nowhere in sight. Worse yet, one of the world’s oldest countries and civilizations, spanning millennia and starting with the ancient Kingdom of Urartu nearly 3000 years ago, Armenia is staring into the abyss as its NATO-backed “leader” keeps making one bad decision after another. The victims of this unwise (at best, although the more […] #Featured #UkraineWar #WarZone #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/11/is-armenia-really-arming-the-kiev-regime/?feed_id=6884

Pashinyan doubles down on his suicidal tilt toward increasingly impotent West

As the disastrous exodus of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh (known as Artsakh to indigenous Armenians) is in its last phases, the Sorosite Nikol Pashinyan seems more determined than ever to ensure the same fate for Armenia proper. His tilt toward France is a futile attempt to get at least one Western power interested enough to get involved on the side of Armenia, or at least that’s what it seems like on the outside. However, the harsh reality is that Pashinyan has managed to make Yerevan more isolated than ever before, a fact that’s being used to the maximum by its […] #Featured #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/10/pashinyan-doubles-down-on-his-suicidal-tilt-toward-increasingly-impotent-west/?feed_id=4292

Samvel Shahramanyan, the president of the unrecognized republic, issued a decree on Thursday ordering the “dissolution of all state institutions and their branches by January 1, 2024.”  “The Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) ceases to exist,” the announcement declared, as quoted by the NKR InfoCenter. Is Pashinyan the new Saakashvili?

Not many people remember who Mikheil Saakashvili is and how he pushed Georgia into a geopolitical abyss from which the South Caucasus country is still trying to claw its way out. He will be long forgotten by the time Georgia and Russia normalize their relationship, meaning that the consequences that such NATO puppets leave will outlive them by decades and perhaps the belligerent alliance itself too. What Saakashvili managed to do is indeed a historically unprecedented feat. Namely, never before in its history has Georgia been an enemy of Russia. Quite the contrary, the South Caucasus country has always been […] #Featured #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/09/is-pashinyan-the-new-saakashvili/?feed_id=4057

In the cover image rescue and medical personnel work following an explosion in the gas warehouse near the Stepanakert-Askera highway in Berkadzor on 26 September Introduction by Fabio Giuseppe Carlo Carisio VERSIONE IN ITALIANO In recent days, Armenian religious people have raised the alarm about the danger of genocide for the overwhelmingly Christian population of the isolated Lachin Corridor, after repeated tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Pashinyan attempts to blame Russia for the situation he helped create in Nagorno-Karabakh

by Ahmed Adel, Cairo-based geopolitics and political economy researcher Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia who oversaw a humiliating defeat in the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War of 2020, delivered a speech on September 24 claiming that he is leading Armenia’s “independence defence movement” and blamed Russia for the situation in the disputed region. Describing the terrible humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Pashinyan said, “The responsibility for such a development of events will fall entirely on Azerbaijan, which has adopted the policy of ethnic cleansing, and on the peacekeeping troops of the Russian Federation in Nagorno-Karabakh.” The Armenian prime minister […] #Featured #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/09/pashinyan-attempts-to-blame-russia-for-the-situation-he-helped-create-in-nagorno-karabakh/?feed_id=3798
