EU gave up on Russian pipelines so it could import more LNG... from Russia

By allowing (or even being an accomplice to) NATO’s terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines, the European Union effectively committed macroeconomic suicide. As per usual, the mainstream propaganda machine immediately blamed Russia for supposedly “sabotaging” its own natural gas pipelines it had been building for well over a decade. The cartoonishly “evil Kremlin” was once again accused of allegedly “weaponizing” its vast energy reserves against the EU. For months, claiming anyone but Moscow was behind the terrorist attacks would get one branded a “conspiracy theorist”, a designation perfectly fit to have dissenting opinions “canceled”. However, as time passed, it became clear […] #Europe #Featured #Government #WarZone Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/04/eu-gave-up-on-russian-pipelines-so-it-could-import-more-lng-from-russia/?feed_id=11031

Russia can help India overcome its LNG overreliance on Qatar

by Ahmed Adel, Cairo-based geopolitics and political economy researcher India’s roadmap towards carbon neutrality and transition from coal to gas gives Russia great potential to increase exports. As the recent deal to acquire more Qatari energy shows, there is a great demand in India for LNG since it is needed to produce electricity, make […] #Featured #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2024/02/russia-can-help-india-overcome-its-lng-overreliance-on-qatar/?feed_id=8803

EU countries bought more than €6 billion in Russian LNG between Jan-Sept

by Ahmed Adel, Cairo-based geopolitics and political economy researcher Countries such as Estonia, Lithuania, France, Spain, and others purchased Russian liquefied natural gas despite intentions to abandon the purchase of this fuel. This once again demonstrates Europe’s energy course cannot be independent of Russia, rendering the sanctions more ridiculous, especially since Moscow has overcome them. According to The Telegraph, European Union member states purchased Russian LNG worth €6.1 billion in the first nine months of 2023 despite intentions to abandon the purchase of Russian fuel, according to Eurostat data. In the list of countries that purchased Russian gas in 2023, Spain and France came in second and […] #Featured #Government #World Read Full Article: https://www.vtforeignpolicy.com/2023/11/eu-countries-bought-more-than-e6-billion-in-russian-lng-between-jan-sept/?feed_id=6764
